Prof Mike Mulcahy. BChD. FFGDP(UK). MSc. FRCS(Hon). FDS(Hon). MGDS.LDS.RCS(Eng)

Position: Dentist
GDC no. 46338
For the last 30 years Mike has combined his part-time clinical role with various teaching posts at both the Royal College of Surgeons and the University of Kent. Mike originally set up Strand-dental in Worthing and only left after 31 years when he was elected as Dean of Dentistry at the RCS. He continued his clinical role at a surgery in his home in Pulborough.
His teaching role as Professor of Primary Dental Care continues at a pace and helps Mike keep totally up to date with new developments and concepts in dentistry, teaching young graduate dentists and also involved in the organisation of Foundation Dentists, their first year post graduation.
Mike is excited at the opportunity to work at Abbots Lodge, he knew Rod well as a friend and colleague and always admired his level of clinical excellence. Unfortunately time pressure is such that he will only be working one day per week here.
Mike & his wife Elly have just celebrated the arrival of their fifth grandchild, but as all their children and grandchildren live in Dubai there is a downside of not seeing them enough! Mike & Elly have at last moved into their 15/16th century house in the centre of Petworth after a complete re-build and much of Mike’s energy over the summer went into this under Elly’s strict guidance.
As you can see Mike brings a wealth of experience combined with state-of-the-art thinking which will bring huge benefits both to the team and the patients here at Abbots Lodge Dental Practice.
